Manager, Video Production
Under the supervision of the Creative Director & Producer, support the overall objectives of Joni and Friends’ Marketing department. Perform duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Managing Video Production
- Supervise department video content creation to meet ministry needs and effectively communicate Joni and Friends mission and vision
- Responsible for content and quality of department video creation, working alongside the team to develop our style and approach to meet ministry and marketing objectives
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ministry video requests and needs, assessing and approving requests, tracking video projects in Asana, scheduling video shoots and release dates, and assigning tasks to team members
- Take a lead role for video productions, producing and directing video shoots as needed, ensuring shoots are properly planned and prepped by the team, and assigning roles to the video crew
- Work with, and supervise, the progress of freelance professionals and companies that create video content for Joni and Friends, in part or in whole, outside of the department’s workload
- Lead the team in ensuring production equipment and the International Disability Center 2 studio are properly maintained, ordering repairs or new equipment as needed
- Managing Video Post-Production
- Ensure brand standards are met in all video content and help to adapt and develop those standards for video as needed
- Review video edits for content and quality, provide edit notes, assign editorial tasks, and ensure videos are delivered on time
- Providing Creative Direction and Coordination Across Marketing Teams
- Work alongside the Creative Director and Producer and Marketing leadership to help develop and plan video content to support major marketing campaigns and fundraising events
- Will split responsibilities with the Creative Director and Producer for producing and directing certain video productions for major marketing campaigns and fundraising events. Such productions require leading a team and possible domestic and international travel
- Work with the Social Media team to help develop a consistent visual quality for Joni and Friends social media video content. Provide assistance and assign team members to help support social media content creation and editing as needed
- Managing Audio-Visual (AV) Production
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Creative Team’s work on ministry events requiring audio-visual support, ensuring relevant aspects of the event are properly planned and prepped by the team
- For staff meetings and other staff events, make sure the AV needs are properly planned and prepped by the team, ensure AV crew roles are filled, and serve in-person to lead and support such events as needed
- Managing Media Library and Archiving
- Help ensure, alongside the Creative Director and Producer and key Media Library support staff, that Media Library processes are well developed, continuously improved, and well executed
- Educate high-use staff members, and the ministry at large on Media Library processes and objectives
- Responsible for video content on the Media Library, ensuring video is archived properly and in a timely manner, helping develop consistent video media organization and tagging standards
- Work with staff from other teams and departments to help develop plans, standards, and processes for ingesting, tagging, and organizing other “buckets” of media, such as photos, audio, social media content, graphics, and books and resources
- Learn the backend technical side of the Orange Logic platform, understanding enough about groups, permissions, and other functions, to lead the Media Library key support staff in troubleshooting and improving the Media Library environment
- Media Server Upkeep and Disaster Recovery Supervision
- Along with key team members, ensure the Creative Team media server is maintained and working
- Confirm processes are in place for consistent, reliable disaster recovery of media on the server, checking that media is retrievable and recoverable. Develop processes for archiving media no longer needed on the server to cold storage
- Team Leadership, Development, and Guidance
- Lead and manage direct reports providing guidance, training, and timely support
- Schedule regular 1:1s with direct reports to review projects, goals, expectations, and overall performance
- Continuously develop the skills and knowledge of direct reports to enhance their capabilities and identify skills gaps and work with staff to close the gaps
- Conduct performance evaluations and foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needs
Qualifications:
- Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
- Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
- Minimum 3+ years experience in video production
- Experience as a video camera operator (may be asked to provide work samples or reel)
- Proven experience as a video editor (may be asked to provide works samples or reel)
- Involvement as a video producer, leading production teams, and steering projects from development to completion
- Bachelor’s Degree in media, film, or related field; or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud apps (specifically Premiere and Media Encoder; Photoshop and After Effects a plus)
- Understanding of current trends in professional and prosumer video cameras and production equipment
- Familiar with current trends in video production and social media content and platforms
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively. Experience in leading projects, guiding teams through challenges, and making critical decisions is crucial
- Good interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines are necessary
- Must be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, a team player and self-starter who is flexible and able to work independently
- Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Mac and Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
- Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable
