Duties

Under the supervision of the Director, Major Gift Cultivation, support the overall objectives of Joni and Friends’ Development department located at the International Disability Center.  Perform duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  1. Ministry Development  
    1. Work closely with Director, Major Gift Cultivation to develop and execute a successful development plan for his/her region
    2. Ability to communicate clearly and personally present specific fund-raising projects and programs to donors
    3. Integrate, collaborate, and brainstorm with Development Officers on a regular basis
    4. Support all Ministry-wide fundraising initiatives, goals, and objectives
    5. Oversee and implement all Ministry-wide donor retention strategies
  2. Regional Donor Engagement
    1. Work closely with Director, Major Gift Cultivation and other key JAF executive staff to ensure major donor acknowledgement and cultivation
    2. Strengthen long-term donor relationships by establishing a targeted plan to deepen relationships through personal identification (i.e. special celebrations, touched by disability, etc.)
    3. Work closely with Director, Major Gift Cultivation to create strategies to cultivate next generation donors
    4. Ongoing cultivation plan and strategic plan to increase donor giving
    5. Create plans for prospecting donors in region
  3. Regional Donor Administration
    1. Oversee responses to incoming major donor correspondence
    2. With administrative support from appropriate Development staff, Development Officer will develop and maintain appropriate tracking systems and confidential reports of major donors and donor prospects for strategic planning purposes
    3. Interface with development staff related to the processing and maintenance of donor contributions and information
  4. Coordinate fundraising with Joni and Friends field offices as necessary
  5. Provide support in fundraising for new field offices
  6. Other duties and projects as assigned by Supervisor to support department and organizational needs

Qualifications

  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years non-profit or sales experience
  • Possess excellent human relations skills; strong organizational ability; goal oriented and self-motivated
  • Strong presentation skills and public speaking experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written, and relationship building skills
  • Proven ability to develop and cultivate positive relationships between JAF and current major donors and major donor prospects, develop and manage major donor prospects
  • Strong computer skills to include donor database management systems; experience with Salesforce beneficial
  • Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

Compensation $65,000 - $75,000 

This is a hybrid position (Mon, Tue, and Thu in our Agoura Hills office, Wed and Fri are remote).
